Roblox Build brings AI game creation to mobile on July 28

July 25, 2026

Roblox is moving game creation into the same mobile app people use to play. In a July 16 announcement, the company introduced Build, a new AI-powered creation tab that begins public alpha testing in New Zealand on July 28.

This is not a separate toy editor. Build and Studio share a back end, models, projects, and chat history. Roblox's pitch is that you can start a game on your phone, continue the detailed work in Studio, launch an agent from your desktop, and check its progress from mobile.

What Build can create

Roblox says the alpha can work across the main layers of a game rather than generating a single isolated asset:

The important word is editable. Roblox is positioning Build as the first step in a real production workflow, not as a prompt that returns a sealed game you cannot inspect or improve.

Alpha-created games must pass Roblox's safety checks. They also receive an extended review before they can enter the Roblox Select catalog, then compete under the same retention-based discovery system as other games.

The agent roadmap is bigger than the mobile editor

Roblox also outlined three professional agents coming across Build and Studio: a playtesting agent that finds bugs, an analytics agent that answers questions about game data in plain language, and an experiment agent that proposes tests for engagement, retention, and monetization.

The company connected these agents to its broader creation stack. Its Procedural Models generate adjustable 3D assets, Cube generates game-ready objects, and a future scene model is intended to create complete editable and playable 3D scenes from one prompt.

What this changes for Roblox developers

Build lowers the cost of starting. A new creator no longer needs to be sitting at a Windows or Mac machine before testing an idea. For an established team, the more interesting part is continuity: agents can keep working while the creator changes devices.

It also confirms the direction we described in why Roblox development is not desktop-only. Creation is becoming a persistent cloud workflow with Studio as the deepest editor, not the only place work can happen.

The July 28 release is still a geographically limited alpha. Studio, BloxBot, and other MCP clients remain the practical route for creators who need production control today. But the boundary has moved: mobile is now part of Roblox's official development surface.
